PERSPECTIVE
Perspective and light capture my imagination. They present an opportunity to turn ordinary moments into artistic statements by hyperbole through the lens or with digital manipulation.
My 40 year career as an architect influences my point of view. Academic training in perspective drawing and experience working with architectural photographers create ways to select subjects and develop a story. Photographers introduced me to the importance of framing the story and techniques for enhancing elements. The art of architecture reinforces this point of view. The foundation for my perspective originates in late mid-century architecture based on minimalist design and detailing.
I search for perspective as an element to emphasize the stories I develop with images. Mid-century architectural photographers and their use of high contrast and light treatment in film noir movies influence my work.
Photography offers the opportunity for serious and playful moments. I seek views that involve questions or statements that invite thoughts and discussion.
